Healthy Breakfast Mix



HEALTHY BREAKFAST MIX


INGREDIENTS:

Millets:

·         Finger millet- 30 g or 1cup
·         Sorghum or jowar – 30g
·         Pearl millet – 30g
·         Foxtail millet – 30g
Cereals:
·         Whole wheat – 15g or ½ cup
·         Brown rice – 15g
·         Sago -15g
·         Rice flakes – 15 g
Pulses:
·         Black channa – 15g
·         Roasted gram dhal – 30g
·         Green gram dhal – 30 g
Others:
·         Fenugreek seeds – 1table spoon
·         Flaxseeds – 1 table spoon
·         Cardamom, almonds and cashewnuts (optional)



PREPARATION:

  •     Clean and dry roast all ingredients which are listed under millets and let it cool and blend together into fine powder. Keep aside.
  •       Take whole wheat and brown rice separately, Clean and soak them for 1 hour and sundry or shade dry for one day and dry roast all the ingredients which are listed under cereals and let it cool and blend into fine powder and keep aside.
  •      Clean pulses and dry roast and blend together all the ingredients into fine powder and keep aside.
  •        Then dry roast fenugreek seeds and flax seeds separately and blend tighter and keep aside.
  •         Now mix well all the above powders together and store it in airtight container.

USAGE:

  •         This mix can be used as breakfast porridge – add cardamom powder for flavor. almonds and kaju powder or soaked nuts and fruits can also be added mixed along with milk and can be taken.
  •        This mix can be used to make chapatis, dosa and idly. One can add black gram dhal to this mix for making idly to make it softer.
  •         This mix can be milled in the form of rava or coarse texture to prepare upma.
  •         If used as porridge instead of sugar one can add brown sugar or jaggery or date syrup to it to make it healthier.
  •        This porridge mix can also be used to feed for babies above 8 months as it is healthy.
