We all know that malnutrition is one of the major hurdle in the overall development of a country. National Nutrition Week is celebrated to overcome and curb it. Nutrition is an issue of survival, health and development of current and succeeding generations. Children born underweight have impaired immune function and increased risk of diseases such as diabetes and heart diseases in their later life. Malnourished children tend to have lower IQ and impaired cognitive ability, thus affecting their school performance and then productivity in their future.
In order to improve the nutritional status in children it is important to give optimum nutrition during first 1000 days of life, from the breast feeding days and from the start of weaning, Which helps in combating the malnutrition and also helps them to be a healthy individual.
